Dear colleagues, being the oldest student in our group, I preferred to discuss the life in pension age in Britain and Russia. I tried to base on facts and figures and presented the most of them in convenient table form. As all of us will be old, maybe it will be interesting to you.
Dear colleagues, thank you for your projects, they are very interesting! As for me, I decided to offer my own topic: "British and Russian music from its origin to XX century". I have chosen this topic because I'm a great fan of some genres both in British and Russian music and my research was for me a great journey in the world of music. I hope that you will also enjoy it! Maria Trofimova.
Malyutina Oksana Dear colleagues! The theme of my final project is “History of gardening in Britain and Russia”. During my stay in England, I was admired with the beauty of it’s nature and wonderful landscapes. While I was travelling around the country, I have visited many beautiful castles with gorgeous gardens. That was one of my brightest emotions about visiting Britain and the reason for examining this subject.
Belyaeva Svetlana To my mind both Russia and Great Britain with their rich history have a great influence on other countries. And I strongly believe that a political system plays the most important role in building national and world peace and prosperity. The topic of my final project is "Political systems of two great countries"
Polina Lukankina
In 2011 I graduated from Moscow State University where I studied public administration. Now my job has very little to do with governmental issues, but I am still very much interested in politics and current social events, that is why I chose “The system of government in Britain and Russia” topic for my final project.
Anna MayevskayaShift in traditional moral values: common problems of two different countriesDear colleagues, while surfing the net we all usually unwittingly come across different sorts of publications about our country, unfortunately some of them are really shocking. That's the reason why I decided to write my report on values. Have people completely forgotten of the core moral principles? Let's find it out!
Anna Mayevskaya, Shift in traditional moral values common problems of two different countries.docx
English national character vs Russian national character: stereotypes Dear all! to tell the truth I was shocked while studying the topic. That is the main reason why I have chosen it. The main thing about stereotypes is that they are far away from the reality. I wanted to know how far could different stereotypes about Russia get. The result is my Project. It can make you smile or sad. Enjoy reading!)
1. British National Character VS Russian National Character_ stereotypes.docx
Dear colleagues, I have chosen this topic because it seemed to me quite curious and worth discovering. I was interested in what is so special about British humour and even the Russian one, that we use in everyday life and do not notice its pecularities. Having made comparison I found some similarities in these two phenomenons. Enjoy reading the survey and the jokes)
Panova Lyubov/Attitude towards pets in Great Britain and in Russia I want to explain to you why I have chosen namely this topic. The story is short: about four years ago I bought a dog, since that day my life has absolutely changed. Now I understand the meaning of the words “devotion”, “love” and sincere “friendship”. My lovely dog (her name is Byanka) is one of the prettiest westies in the world. Her breed was created in Scotland. Somehow I believe that my dog ought to have typically British manners and character. That’s why I’d like to know more about other pets who live in Great Britain and in the course of my final project I’m going to compare pets’ daily life and common social attitude towards them in Great Britain and in Russia.
I would like to tell you about hiking. I am fond of hiking, cross-country skiing or mountain climbing. That is why I have chosen this theme. I travel a lot especially in Russia. I admire the nature of my country and like to be close to it. It was interesting for me: Do Britishers like walking among their nature? What kind of nature is in Britain? Where I will go when I am in Britain? In conclusion I have compared the way of hiking in Britain and Russia.
Olga Garashchuk. "English national character vs. Russian national character: STEREOTYPES."
Dear Alla Leonidovna and other participants of the course, this presentation is an attemt to understand how stereotypes can influence our life and how people learn them. Then I will talk about wide-spread stereotypes about the British and the Russians. Finally, the conclusion is done which nation is viewed in the most negative way through the prism of stereotypes. I hope this presentation can give an objective reflection on the importance of dispelling stereotypes about both nations. I hope you like it. 3) Gurganova Tatiana. Education in Britain and in Russia.
My report dwells on the peculiarities of English houses, traditions connected with houses in Britain ,the problems, that Britain home-buyers face. If also looks at the differences and similarities between Russian and British houses.
The concept of home is part and parcel of any culture that is why for language learners it is essential to have an idea, of what houses are like in the country whose language they study.
This presentation is dedicated to compare the main areas of the social packages between GB and Russia, illustrating both their similarities and differences in - maternity leave and child allowance; - compulsory education; - sick payments; - vacation legislation; - pension scheme. . There is a stereotype that Russian legislation is not oriented for people's well-being at the same rate as in GB. This presentation observes the facts about the benefit systems and lets us make a conclusion if the stereotype is grounded on reality or not.
10) Svetlana Suslenkova "British home vs. Russian home"
There are a lot of proverbs and sayings supporting the importance of home to a person: East or West, home is best; There is no place like home; My house is my fortress; Home, sweet home; Home is where the heart is; Home is home, though it be never so homely; Dry bread at home is better than roast meat abroad and many others. Such sayings exist in any language and in any culture. Houses differ from one culture to another, depending on the world outlook of a certain community, which has its roots in the religion of a nation, its traditions and historic heritage. That is why there are so many types of houses and ways of life in the world.
11) Shuyskaya Irina “BRITISH ETIQUETTE“ The main goal of my project is to study appropriate information about British Etiquette and compare it with the Russian one.

16) Antonenko Nataliia Dear colleagues! I love nature and so I have chosen the theme national parks of Russia and Britain. My dream is to be closer to nature and to travel through the picturesque corners of the world. Nature makes a very strong impression on me and I love admiring it. From the star-spangled canopy of heaven to the far bottom of the majestic ocean, created earth is teeming with wondrous beauty. There is endless beauty above in the clouds that sweep over the blue sky; the mountain tops and the valleys below reveal the work of a creating God. The rivers that roll for thousands of miles down to their mother ocean, the seas that join continent to continent, the lakes that reflect the grandeur of the heavens, the adamantine rocks and cliffs….
